Education & Work Experience:

  • A resident of Lapeer County since 1984
  • Wife of 47 years, Former Lapeer School Employee
  • Father of Christene, Joylynn, and Dyle David
  • Helps manage Centennial family farm
  • Lapeer County Commissioner (2003-present, currently Vice Chairman of Lapeer County Board)
  • MSU Extension (Cooperative Extension Service) 26
    years with 4-H Youth Programs responsibilities,
    including Lapeer County Extension Director (budget
    and personnel management) for 17 of these years.
  • Over 6 years of work in South Vietnam as an International Voluntary Service volunteer (community development and education ) and as a Fulbright Grant Teacher at two colleges.
  • BA Degree in Government (Cornell University)
  • J.D. (Columbia University Law School)

Commissioner Actions & Beliefs

  • For almost 20 years has worked with other commissioners and staff to preserve a wide variety of county services while maintaining a General Fund budget of $22 million funded by the 5th lowest county millage rate in Michigan
  • Supports Lapeer County’s leadership in collaboration with non-profit agencies and other governmental units to maintain and improve services and save money.
  • Votes to fund programs both to catch and punish criminals and to prevent problems and intervene early with youth and families at risk.
  • Promotes communication of county services to citizens and encourages citizen awareness and involvement in county government
